What would you tell other women about overcoming obstacles?

The measure of success is more about the lessons that you learn along your journey to victory than the ultimate destination achieved.  When you truly believe that victory is yours, then you should prepare yourself for disappointments, failures and hearing the word, “No.”   I’m grateful that each obstacle that God allowed me to overcome in my career and my life has all made me a better woman, mother, mentor, sister, and friend.

What was the bravest thing you have ever done that got you where you are today?

Moving more than 700 miles away from my family to pursue career advancement is one of the bravest steps in my life and career. Having truly grown as a woman and a leader since the move in 2005, my career and life successes are directly related to my strong faith, Sister-Friends, and organizations like Onyx Woman Network that introduced me to Pittsburgh as a newly relocated woman of color in the transportation industry.

What does receiving the Onyx Woman Leadership award mean to you?

Receiving the Onyx Woman Leadership Award is an honor for me because I recognize the amazing accomplishments of the dynamic leaders of the past and the present who received this esteemed award.  I am proud to be recognized for setting an example that demonstrates how perseverance, dedication, and passion about what you do leads to success.  My sincerest gratitude to Ola Jackson, Founder OWN: Onyx Woman Network, and the selection committee for awarding me this prestigious distinction.

We will celebrate Bridgette and other dynamic women like her on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at a private ceremony. We have very few registrations available. Check back for photos.
