1. What role has the support of other women played in your success?
Many women have been beacons of light to show me how to navigate in new and different environments. The women in my family have cultivated my work ethic. My success is rooted in the women who have impacted my life.
2. Are you where you thought you would be, and how did you get here?
I wish I could say that I am where I thought I would be, but that’s not the case. When you’re doing well and have no children and/or a spouse, the family can have their expectations of what you can do for them. Mainly, this is what brought me back to Pittsburgh from Dallas, TX. I returned to help my uncle through a life-threatening situation. This uncle paid my way through undergraduate school at the University of Pittsburgh. For all that he did for me, I had to help him. I couldn’t do that from Texas. I had to move back to Pittsburgh. I would do it all over again the same way. I have no regrets – only valuable lessons. I either win, or I learn. Period. GOD doesn’t make mistakes.
3. What would you tell other women about overcoming obstacles?
When you’re going through a season of a story, sometimes it’s necessary to remove yourself from the noise in your life to hear more clearly the voice of GOD.
4. What does the phrase, “Sis, I see you!” mean to you?
The phrase “Sis, I see you!” means that one woman acknowledges the successes, beauty, pain, trials, great work, and accomplishments another woman is experiencing. This is one of my favorite phrases to share.
