Dr. Camille Clarke-Smith is a Program Director at UPMC Health Plan, where she leads the Medicare Faith and Wellness Program, intertwining health initiatives with spiritual and community engagement.
Her personal venture, Camille Clarke LLC, offers an array of services, from personal training to health coaching, illustrating her multifaceted approach to wellness. This dedication is further echoed in her nonprofit, T.H.A.W Inc., which addresses the health disparities stemming from historical injustices through programs like Reading to Inspire Sisters to Elevate (R.I.S.E) Book Club, Boxing Yoga Exhale (B.Y.E) and Art & Soul: Of the African American Woman Artist showcase.
Educated with a BS in Psychology, MS in Exercise Science, an Ed.D in Health and Physical Activity, and currently pursuing an MSW, Dr. Clarke-Smith’s academic achievements parallel her passion for real-world impact. As the First Lady and Praise Leader at Destiny International Ministries, she contributes to the spiritual nourishment of her community alongside her husband, founding Senior Pastor Michael Smith.
We asked our honorees how their Mom impacted their success:
The strength and resilience of my mother, an immigrant from Jamaica who single-handedly raised me in both Jamaica and Brooklyn, profoundly influenced my path. Her own battle with weight and unwavering faith ignited my passion for wellness and spirituality. Though her dream of furthering her education was challenged, she demonstrated that perseverance and dedication could overcome any obstacle, teaching me invaluable lessons that have been pivotal to my success.
