Rosalyn Guy-McCorkle, Esquire, was appointed County Solicitor for Allegheny County by Executive Sara Innamorato. She is the first female and the first African American to hold this position. In this position, she oversees a team of over 50 attorneys who handle legal matters for the 130 municipalities in Allegheny County. Before her appointment, Mrs. Guy-McCorkle served as an Assistant County Solicitor, managing the Title IV-D unit while also maintaining a private practice that focused primarily on estate and probate law.
As a WBE/MBE certified attorney, Rosalyn has held various roles, including Hearing Officer for the City of Pittsburgh Housing Authority, School Code Violation Hearing Officer for the Pittsburgh Board of Education, and Minority Council for PA State Universities in architecture and design litigation. For the past 15 years, she has been an adjunct professor at Duquesne University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law, where she teaches Family Law. Mrs. Guy-McCorkle is an active member of several organizations, including the Allegheny County Bar Association, where she participated on the Family Law Section Committee; the Homer S. Brown Division; the Domestic Relations Association of Pennsylvania (DRAP); the Pittsburgh Black Lawyers Alliance; and the Eastern Regional Interstate Child Support Association (ERISCA). She earned her undergraduate degree from West Virginia University in 1986 and her Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1990. For the past 30 years, she has been married to Kevin McCorkle, and they are proud parents of two adult children: Dr. Taylor McCorkle and Chase McCorkle.
