This year, our theme is “And Still We Rise!” We asked our honorees to reflect on how they have risen above challenges—both professionally and personally. Their responses honor the obstacles they faced, the strength they discovered, and the determination that carried them forward.

I’ve faced my share of harsh seasons—supply shortages, rising costs, and the uncertainty that comes with running a small business. Yet, like a flower pushing through the cracks of concrete, I’ve chosen to rise. Each challenge became an opportunity to grow stronger. When the world slowed down, I learned to create beauty in simplicity. When resources were scarce, I leaned on creativity and community. And when doubt whispered, I looked to the flowers—to their quiet persistence, their ability to bloom even after the hardest frost. “And Still I Rise” is not just a phrase; it is my heartbeat. A proud native of Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood, Brandi’s journey is one of perseverance, faith, and blooming against the odds. What began as a simple love for creating floral arrangements has blossomed into a thriving business rooted in creativity, community, and compassion.
Her mission is beautifully simple yet deeply meaningful—to make people smile and help them appreciate the serenity found in floral beauty. Located in Pittsburgh’s Central Northside, Serenity Bloom proudly participates in Catapult Greater Pittsburgh’s Retail Residency Program, which has provided invaluable support as Brandi continues to envision an exciting future for her brand. Her dream is to expand Serenity Bloom into a larger, multipurpose space—one that not only offers luxury floral designs on a grander scale but also serves as a hub for education, mentorship, and employment opportunities for local youth interested in the floral arts.
Brandi’s inspiration is deeply rooted in family and legacy. She is the devoted mother of Bria (27), whose strength and independence inspire her daily, and Braeden (14), whose youthful energy reminds her to keep pushing forward. The wisdom imparted by her late grandmother, Pearl Bundrige, and her beloved mentor, Joy Bates, continues to guide her hands and heart in all that she does.
