And Still We Rise!
This year, our theme is “And Still We Rise!” We asked our honorees to reflect on how they have risen above challenges—both professionally and personally. Their responses honor the obstacles they faced, the strength they discovered, and the determination that carried them forward.
“In the midst of personal or business challenges, I rise by choosing resilience over retreat and purpose over fear. As a leader, fitness coach, and community advocate, I’ve learned that rising doesn’t always look like standing tall—sometimes it begins on your knees, gathering the strength to try again. When obstacles come, I pause, reflect, and reconnect with my “why”: to empower individuals to reclaim their health, confidence, and joy. That purpose keeps me grounded during setbacks—whether navigating business uncertainty, launching programs with limited resources, or pushing through personal storms that test my faith and determination. I remind myself that challenges aren’t roadblocks; they are training grounds. I rise by leaning on my support system—my family, my team, my community—and allowing myself to be poured into as I pour into others. I rise by embracing growth and adjusting my strategy instead of abandoning my vision. Most importantly, I rise by giving myself permission to evolve. Each challenge strengthens my capacity to lead with grace, courage, and authenticity.”
