I believe obstacles are designed for your growth and to strengthen your faith. Obstacles are not for you, it's your testimony to share with someone to give them hope and to demonstrate that they have to persevere and trust God.
Eliminate the word obstacles and instead use the word mountains. Keep your "WHY" in front of you. Pray for understanding and guidance. You may need to be still and evaluate the situation. You may need a consultant for additional knowledge in the field so you can put corrective actions in place. Understand that mountains are for your personal development and essential for your success in your life journey.
One of the bravest things I’ve done was returning to school to obtain my Ph.D. at the age of 51. Joining a cohort of individuals the same age as my children, plus being the only person of color in class, initially made me question my sanity for attempting this endeavor. Following my own advice, I pulled ‘I Can Do It’ strength from family and friends, and the memories of those who endured the struggle before me to persevere.
I get excited about helping others; specifically women and girls. I wanted to go down other paths, but serving others is my passion.
This profession helped me realize my desire to help women succeed in life. For that reason, I have decided to begin the process of launching a non-profit that focuses on empowering women to reach their goals.
’ve been blessed with the honor and opportunity to have strong women guiding me through my journey in life. These women, who I consider my board of directors (particularly my mother, who is currently 90 years old), have laid the foundation by instilling in me the confidence and spirit of perseverance needed to stay focused on the goal(s) I’ve set for myself and not being distracted by the naysayers.
