1. What role has the support of other women played in your success?
I have found various role models I could identify with; their inspiration has kept me focused on my goals. We are all unique and have purposeful talents and gifts. I utilize my strengths of communication and resources to strengthen and empower myself and others! When I started my nursing career and then pharmaceutical career, I found my normal was always the “only “or few of the majority. My daily struggle was fierce; my prayers to God carried me through each day. Tenacity is real; never give up, never stop trying, and always have a plan B. These were some of the encouraging words from my role models!
Many disappointments but never devastation.
2. Are you where you thought you would be, and how did you get here?
I am amazed at the blessings from God in my life; without a strong Christian foundation, I would not have accomplished success in life. God has been faithful to carry me along his way despite many obstacles and disappointments. I learned early that it’s not about me, it’s all about strengthening and encouraging God’s kingdom people and saying yes to God when he prompts you to do his will. I have benefited firsthand from my peers; each one has recognizable strengths and accountability that empowers me during my journey.
When facing challenges, I have always drawn strength physically, mentally, and morally from a Bible verse, Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.” I am truly grateful for every day on this earth.
A quote I pattern my life from, “People never care how much you know until they know how much you care,” builds the foundation of trust-based relationships that equal success. Listening is an important tool and a skill I implement daily. I commit to growing daily and planning my priorities because nothing is impossible. I am always willing to serve and plant seeds to benefit others.
3. What would you tell other women about overcoming obstacles?
Despite obstacles and setbacks, stay focused on your goal; they will make you stronger and more mature. Always pray and ask God for guidance, favor, and strength. Remember, you are amazing, strong, impactful, confident, and assertive; failure is OK. Don’t stay there. Don’t judge yourself by your past; you don’t live there anymore. Remember, a part of the journey is trials and tribulations. Continue to reinvent yourself as you grow into greatness. Remember to be ambitious, industrious, diligent, trustworthy, and honest during your journey to greatness!
Always pursue your dreams. Live life to the fullest and focus on the positive.
4. What does the phrase “Sis, I see you!” mean to you?
Sis, I see you on your journey – remain focused on the” Prize, “whatever it is you want in life. Times may be challenging, but you can attain your goal with prayer and perseverance. Always have a plan and work on your plan. Don’t be too proud to ask for help along the way; there are many resources available. Remember, success is knowing your purpose in life, growing to reach your maximum potential, and sowing seeds that benefit others. Your goal will be accomplished if you have patience and don’t give up! A winner is a dreamer who never gives up. It always seems impossible until it’s done (Nelson Mandela quote).
