Local DJ Exits “The Beat”
Pittsburgh radio personality leaves radio career to work on YouTube Show and Other Projects.
On October 23, 2020, veteran radio personality, Ki Ki Brown, better known as the “Pretty Kitty On Ya Radio” will no longer be the host of the afternoon show on 107.3 The Beat, where she dominated her time slot since the launching of the station in 2019.
Brown will focus on her social media marketing business (Nice 2 Media Marketing & Promotions, LLC), online radio station (UMT Radio), weekly podcast (The Hey Girl Hey Podcast), and filming a new YouTube series titled “What’s Good In Ya Hood” which is set to premiere in late November.
“What’s Good In Ya Hood is something I’ve been working on for years in radio,” says the 47-year-old Hill District native. “Now, I can focus on putting more of my creative ability and effort into video format and making it a new local show where people can see what’s really good in our Pittsburgh neighborhoods.”
The YouTube show will feature interviews with community leaders, small business owners, artists, politicians, philanthropists, non-profit organizations, and more.
The show has already filmed in Homewood, Beltzhoover, and the Hill District and also plans to film in more areas that are portrayed as dangerous, underserved, and/or neglected.
“Kiki’s work ethic is unmatched. When I think of Pittsburgh, she immediately comes to mind with her being tapped into what’s happening in the city and her community focus. She’s a vet and what I call “one of the good ones.” This is just the beginning for her,” says Jonathan Steele, Program Director for WAMO 100 and 107.3 The Beat.
Ki Ki’s last day on air was Friday, October 23rd.
