Tamiah Bridgett, President of Diversame Inc.
And Founder of “It’s a Natural Thang.”
Name one person you consider a great role model and tell us why.
My mother has always been my greatest role model. She is the epitome of grace and dignity.
What advice would you give to anyone about following their dreams?
You can be more than one thing “when you grow up”. Instead of focusing on what you “want to be”, focus more on what you don’t want to become.
What was the best thing that you have ever done that got you to where you are today?
The best thing I’ve ever done was to follow through with starting, It’s a Natural Thang. It has not only served as a springboard for me, but for so many other women in the community, as well.
What would you tell your younger self?
Forgive them. They gave you criticism from their lack, not their fullness.
What would you do differently in your career or business?
I would do so many things differently in my business. Everything from attorneys to contractors to time management. However, every step and misstep has brought a lesson for me to tuck in my tool belt.
When did you first become aware of your purpose?
I became aware of my purpose the moment I started making black women feel beautiful with the hair that they were blessed to be born with. There is nothing like watching the mental transformation accompany the physical when a black woman realizes there was never anything about her natural hair that ever needed “fixed”.
